Sacramento State’s Luba Schifris has been selected the Big Sky Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Hornets to a conference win over Eastern Washington. Schifris, a freshman from Blieskastel, Germany, topped Sayaka Yoshimoto 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. She also teamed with Joyce Martinez Gutierrez to win the No. 2 doubles match 8-3.
Sacramento State won the match 7-0, and moved to 4-0 in league matches. Schifris is 3-0 at the No. 1 singles spot this season, and is 7-7 overall. This is the first Player of the Week Award for Schifris and the third for a Hornet player this year.
