WOMEN'S TENNIS WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT WITH 6-0 VICTORY OVER IDAHO STATE

Sacramento State won its fourth consecutive match and continued the defense of its Big Sky crown with a 6-0 victory over Idaho State on Sunday afternoon.

With five freshmen in the lineup, the Hornets improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Bengals fall to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in conference.

Freshman Luba Schifris defeated Denise Cockrell 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match, while Hornet freshman Joyce Martinez Gutierrez defeated Armine Sarkavagvan, 6-2, 6-3 in the No.2 spot for her third straight victory.

Karina Jarlkaganova defeated Lauren Pascoe 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot, while junior Cecilia Helland earned a 6-0, 6-3 win over Valerie Espinosa. Svetlana Pimenova defeated Katherine Zigars 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 5 spot, while Irina Taranenko earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Anastasia Sazykina 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 6 spot.

The Hornets will next play Weber State at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
