Sacramento State opened the day by sweeping the three doubles matches to claim the point. At the one, junior Margarita Karnaukhova and sophomore Anna Karaveyeva won an 8-3 decision over Marielle Gruening and Chelsea Glynn. At the two, sophomore Anna Erikson and freshman Klara Petersson defeated Andrea Pintar and Leslie Damion, 8-6. At three, senior Roberta Fessenko and sophomore Cecilia Helland defeated Charlotte Scatliffe and Amy Vyhnis, 8-4.

In singles action, Karnaukhova, ranked No. 21 in the nation, improved to 21-2 on the season with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 96 Gruening. At the two, Erikson, ranked No. 75, improved to 16-4 on the season with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Glynn. Fessenko won her match at the three with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Pintar. At the four, Petersson dispatched Scatliffe in a 6-2, 6-1 win. At the five, Karaveyeva won her match, defeating Damion 6-2, 6-2. At the six, senior Cristina Rivieccio defeated Kristen Wilson, 6-1, 6-3.

Sacramento State returns to action tomorrow when the Hornets will close out the regular season with a Big Sky Conference doubleheader against Northern Arizona at 9 a.m. and Montana at 2 p.m. Sacramento State looks to extend their school record 21-match conference winning streak. Prior to the Montana match, seniors’ Roberta Fessenko and Cristina Rivieccio will be honored for their contributions to the program as they make their final home appearances in a Hornet uniform.
