SOPHOMORE ANNA ERIKSON HAS BEEN NAMED BIG SKY TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah - Sophomore Anna Erikson was named Big Sky Conference women’s Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced today by the league office. The award marks the first time this season that Erikson has been named player of the week and her third career award. The award also extends Sacramento State’s and the Big Sky record to seven for the most player of the week awards given to a school in a season.

Erikson, currently ranked No. 75 in the nation, went 3-0 last weekend propelling the Hornets to three wins. The Stockholm, Sweden native, who plays at the No. 2 position, defeated UC Irvine’s Izabella Mijic, 6-1, 6-4, on Friday, Cal Poly’s Chelsy Thompson, 6-2, 6-0, on Saturday, and Serena Fermin of Loyola Marymount 6-0, 6-1. Erikson is now 15-4 on the season.

Sacramento State, currently ranked No. 35, returns to action on Friday as they host UC Santa Barbara at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club at 2 p.m. The Hornets are currently 18-4 on the year.
