MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TENNIS TO PLAY STANFORD IN THE FIRST ROUND

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —Both the Sacramento State men’s and women’s tennis teans will face Stanford in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, it was announced today. The teams will play on Saturday, May 11, at the Taube Family Tennis Center on the campus of Stanford University. Match time’s are TBA.

The men’s team is making its third NCAA appearence in school history after winning its fourth Big Sky Conference title in the last five years with a 4-3 win over Montana State on April 28. The Hornets (12-10 overall) will face the No. 5 seed Cardinal, who sport a 19-5 record this year. Sacramento State previously met Stanford in the NCAA Tournament in 1999 where the Cardinal defeated the Hornets, 4-0.

The women’s team will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. The Hornets, who won the program’s first Big Sky title with a 4-3 win over Northern Arizona on April 28, will face the No. 3 seed Cardinal women. Sacramento State finished the regular season with a 20-3 record. Stanford finished its regular season with a 21-1 record.
