Sacramento State began the day by winning the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. In the No. 1 doubles match, senior Sherif Zaher and freshman Matthew Jones were tied 5-5 with Don Williams and Daniel Salvato when the doubles point was clinched. Senior Fabio Jesus and freshman Peter Farkas defeated Kenny Lindley and Vlad Bahrencu, 8-2. Sophomore Nick Sheehan and senior Josh Price won their match over Daniel Abeaboeru and Victor Blocher, 8-3.

In singles play, Zaher defeated Williams at the No. 1 position, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Jesus was winning his match over Salvato, 7-5, 3-6, 5-2, when the match was stopped due to the Hornets winning the match. Jones won his No. 3 singles over Lindley, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. Freshman Ali Abbou defeated Bahrencu at the four, 6-2, 6-2. Sheehan was leading his match over Abeaboeru, 6-3, 2-3 at the No. 5 spot when play was suspended. Farkas did not play his No. 6 match against Blocher.

Sacramento State returns to action at the Big Sky Championships on Saturday, April 27. The Hornets, who will receive a first-round bye, will not know its opponent until Friday evening.
