LMU won the doubles point by taking two of the three matches. For the third consecutive match, Sacramento State battled to the last doubles match to be played to win the point, but came up short. The Hornets have not won a three-match doubles point since defeating Nevada back on March 1. Senior Sherif Zaher and freshman Matthew Jones lost their match at the one to Tigran Martirosyan and Leo Graeubig, 8-5. At the two, senior Josh Price and Peter Farkas picked up the lone Hornet doubles win, beating Ryan Gerstner and Beau Berglund, 8-6. At the three, senior Fabio Jesus and sophomore Nick Sheehan had battled back against Jaako Asuja and Anthony Ervard from being down 3-6, to make it 6-7 and serving to tie the match. After being up an advantage, Asuja and Ervard broke two straight serves to force deuce, and then to win the match on an easy volley.

In singles play, Sacramento State picked up its first point when Zaher won his match over Martirosyan 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot. The Cairo, Egypt native is now 9-5 on the season. At the two, Jesus rallied to tie the match at 1-1, before falling to Graeubig in the final set, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. At the three, Jones lost the first set to Asuja, 3-6, before rallying to win the next set, 7-6. Asuja then retired due to injury following the second set giving Jones the win. Freshman Ali Abbou lost his No. 4 position match to Ervard, 6-0, 6-2. At the five, Sheehan gave Gerstner a run for his money, but fell 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 6 spot, Price fell to Berglund, 6-0, 6-1.

Sacramento State returns to action tomorrow afternoon as the team hosts Santa Clara at Rio Del Oro at 1 pm. This will mark the final home match in their careers for Zaher, Jesus and Price.
