GRONOWICZ EARNS BIG SKY TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah – Sacramento State junior Marta Gronowicz was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for women’s tennis, the conference announced today.

Gronowicz went 3-2 last week in singles play at the No. 2 slot and 3-2 while paired up with teammate Gabriella Lundqvuist as the No.1 doubles team to give the Hornets the victory over Montana, Portland and Gonzaga. These defeats led the women’s tennis team to establish a new record for best season finish with a record of 15-3 for the 2002 season.

This Saskatoon, Canada, native finished the season with a singles record of 13-5 and a doubles record of 11-6. Gronowicz is the second player on the Sacramento State women’s tennis team to be named Big Sky Player of the Week.

The women’s tennis team takes a break at the close of their regular season, but will be back in action on Friday, April 12 for the Big Sky Regionals in Sacramento, Calif.
