GABRIELLA LUNDQVIST NAMED BIG SKY PLAYER OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah --The Big Sky Conference announced today that Sacramento

State's Gabriella Lundqvist was named the conference's women's tennis

player of the week for the second time this season.

The junior went a perfect 2-0 at both the No. 1 singles and No. 2

doubles slots to lead Sacramento State to a 1-1 record last week. The

Bastad, Sweden, native defeated Santa Clara's Christine Limbers (7-5,

3-6, 6-0) and San Jose State's Caroline Stenman (6-3, 6-2). She

teamed with Caroline Svensson to win both doubles matches by the

scores of 8-4 and 8-3.

For the season, Lundqvist is now 11-6 in singles play, including 9-6

at the No. 1 spot. She has also posted a 12-3 mark at No 2 doubles

with Svensson.

The Hornet women's team will travel to Weber State this weekend to

take place in the Big Sky Pacific Regionals. Three of the four teams

will advance to the Big Sky Conference Championships which will be

held at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club from April 20-22.
