STOCKTON, Calif. -- The Sacramento State women's tennis team dropped
to 10-7 overall this season after falling to the University of the
Pacific, 5-2, Monday afternoon at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in
Stockton, Calif.
With the victory, Pacific improved to 5-14 on the season. Sacramento
State remains one win shy of tying its Div. I record for most
victories in a season, set by the 1992 squad (11-10).
Pacific's Suzanne Bertel (No. 1), Christiane Barthel (No. 2), Melinda
Kocsis (No. 4) and Sandija Zarina (No. 5) each posted victories in
singles while Caroline Svennson (No. 3) and Italina Kirknis (No. 6)
were victorious for Sacramento State.
The Tigers picked up the doubles point after winning matches at the
Nos. 1 and 3 positions.
Today's match was the last regular season contest of the season as
the Hornets next compete at the Big Sky Conference Pacific Regionals
this Thursday-Saturday, April 12-14, in Ogden, Utah.
