PULLMAN, Wash. - The No. 58 ranked women's tennis team lost, 7-0, at No. 35 ranked Washington State in the first match of a doubleheader on Friday morning at the Simmelink Tennis Center.
The Hornets (0-3) have only played teams from Big-6 conferences thus far. That will change later today, as Sacramento State will visit Cheney, Wash., to play Big Sky Conference foe Eastern Washington.
Sacramento State has won 92 straight matches against conference opponents and 11 straight Big Sky regular season and tournament titles.
Friday morning against the Cougars, however, did not go the Hornets' way.
Rebeca Delgado and Jennifer Nguyen both took their singles matches to a third set but lost. Washington State won the remainder of the singles matches in straight sets and won at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
