Katharina Knoebl won a tough three-set match at No. 5 singles.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's tennis team narrowly lost, 5-2, to the University of San Diego on Sunday afternoon at the West Tennis Courts.

The Hornets (9-7) won two singles matches but the Torreros (3-6) took the doubles point and four singles matches.

Tatsiaian Kapshai and Rebeca Delgado won, 8-4, at No. 1 doubled but San Diego won at No. 2 and No. 3.

In singles play, Sacramento State recieved wins from Sophie Lohscheidt at No. 3 and Katharina Knoebl. Lohscheidt won her match after USD's Laura Claus retired in the second set but Knoebl won a grueling, 4-6, 7-6(3), 11-9 decision.

Lohscheidt won all of her singles matches on the Hornets' three-match road trip this weekend.
