2/28/2012

Tatsiana Kapshai earned league recognition for the second straight week.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State's Tatsiana Kapshai earned her second straight Big Sky Conference women's tennis player of the week award, the league announced on Tuesday.
This is the third player of the week award for the Hornets this month, as Kapshai won last week and Rebeca Delgado won on Feb. 7.
Kapshai, a senior from Minsk, Belarus, went 2-1 in her No. 1 singles matches and 3-0 in her No. 1 doubles matches this week.
Kapshai started off the weekend in dominating, 6-0, 6-0, fashion on Friday as the Hornets defeated both Weber State and Idaho State in a doubleheader at Rio Del Oro RC. Kapshai knocked off WSU’s Brittiny Moore and ISU’s Katharina Marsala in flawless fashion. Kapshai then lost to Georgia State’s No. 38 ranked Abigail Tere-Apisah in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.
Kapshai combined with Delgado to win, 8-3, against Weber State’s Moore and Ashley Tanner at No. 1 doubles on Friday morning while Idaho State forfeited in her No. 1 doubles match later in the afternoon. The duo went on to beat Georgia State’s Tereza Lerova and Whitney Byrd 8-4.
Kapshai is 6-4 on the season at No. 1 singles and had won five straight matches before her loss to Tere-Apisah. The Hornets have won six straight dual matches.
Sacramento State women's tennis is on the road in the Grand Canyon State this weekend - playing at Arizona, Arizona State and Northern Arizona.
