SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's tennis team won each of its singles match in straight sets en route to a doubleheader sweep of Big Sky Conference foes Weber State and Idaho State on Friday at the Rio Del Oro RC.

The Hornets (6-3, 3-0 Big Sky) easily handled the Wildcats, 7-0, before dispatching the Bengals, 7-0, for their fifth straight victory.

In the early match, the Hornets took the doubles point with freshman Andrea Gomez Carus and Clarisse Baca winning 8-0 at No. 3. The rout continued in singles play as Tatsiana Kapshai won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 while Baca and Rebeca Delgado also had perfect sets.

In the late match, Idaho State's Laura Porras suffered an injury before the match, forcing the Bengals to retire at No. 1 doubles and No. 6 singles. Idaho State juggled its lineup in singles play, shifting everyone to make up for Porras's absence at her normal No. 2 slot.

Kapshai once again won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles as did Delgado at No. 3. The Hornets lost just six points combined in the five singles matches played.

Sacramento State plays again at 3 p.m. on Monday against Georgia State before heading to Arizona State, Arizona and Northern Arizona next weekend.
