SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's tennis program has signed Bulgaria-native Tsveti Yotova to a National Letter of Intent (NLI), the team announced Thursday.
Tsveti, who will graduate from 153 Sports School "Neofit Rilski" in Sofia, Bulgaria, this spring will join the Sacramento State women's tennis team in the fall of the 2019-2020 season.
"We are very excited to have Tsveti join our program," said women's tennis head coach Cami Hubbs. "She will be a valuable addition and brings a wealth of experience."
From Sofia, Bulgaria, Tsveti currently plays for the Dema Tennis Club in Sofia under head coach Galia Angelova. Over a decade-plus of competitive tennis, Tsveti has garnered multiple national rankings and found great success in competitions across Europe.
She won the U-18 National Team Championship in 2018 while finishing second in 2017. She has also found success in doubles play, finishing second at the U-18 National Championship in 2018.
Her success has led to multiple national rankings. As an under 16 player, she was ranked third while climbing to number one as under 18. She was also ranked third in doubles play. Currently, Tsveti is ranked as the sixth best women's tennis player in Bulgaria.
Personal: Parents are Miroslav and Daniela Yotova...Lived abroad in Bulgaria to play tennis while parents lived in London...Major is still undeclared, but plans to pursue Kinesiology and work in sports after her tennis career...two former teammates from Dema currently play Div. I tennis at Wyoming and San Jose State.
