SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State men's and women's tennis programs will host the first inaugural Hornet Invitational event next Saturday, Jan. 14, at the Gold River Indoor Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
The inaugural Hornet Invitational is designed to engage the local Sacramento tennis community and friends of the program with this year's Sacramento State men's and women's tennis teams. Participants will get to enjoy a doubles format with current Sacramento State men's and women's tennis student-athletes.
"As a first year coach and former player at Sacramento State, I am excited to meet our alumni," women's tennis acting head coach Clarisse Baca said. "This event is a great opportunity for our players and the tennis community to come together."
The invitational will be played in three divisions based off of the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP). Definitions for each division can be found on the flyer.
Participation is only $75 and will include a complimentary Sacramento State Tennis t-shirt, lunch, and a raffle. Those who do not wish to play but still want to support the programs can purchase lunch tickets for just $20.
"I feel this event will be a great way for alumni and tennis enthusiasts from the local community to meet players from both teams," men's tennis assistant coach Kevin Kurtz said. "Our first home match on campus is just around the corner. We are excited to play a double header on February 3rd against Southern Utah and North Dakota."
The women play their first home match on Friday, Jan. 20, hosting San Francisco at 1:00 p.m. on the campus tennis courts.
