LOHSCHEIDT GARNERS BIG SKY WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
OGDEN, Utah – For the second time this season Hornet senior tennis payer Sophie Lohscheidt has earned Big Sky Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Landsberg, Germany native went 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles against nationally ranked TCU and Washington over the weekend in Seattle. She played at No. 5 singles against No. 61 TCU on Friday and earned a straight-set 7-6, 6-2 win over Monica Sirilova. She also teamed with sophomore Olivia Boija at No. 1 doubles against the Bullfrogs and scored an 8-7 (7-0) win over Seda Arantekin and Stefanie Tan.
Against No. 24 Washington on Sunday, Lohscheidt moved up to No. 4 singles and scored an easy 6-3, 6-3 win over Riko Shimizu. She has won four consecutive singles matches and is 5-2 in singles this season at No. 4, 5, and 6. She also has three doubles wins at No. 1 and 2 this season playing with Boija.
Lohscheidt and the Hornets open conference play next Saturday, March 15, in a double header hosting Southern Utah and Weber State at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
