WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO PORTLAND STATE, 4-1

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Portland State''s Jordan Bishop scored two goals to lead the Vikings to a 4-1 Big Sky Conference win over the Sacramento State women''s soccer team, Sunday afternoon at PGE Park. Sacramento State dropped to 1-10-1 (0-2, Big Sky), while the Vikings improved to 8-3-3 (1-0, Big Sky).

Portland State took a 1-0 lead into halftime when midfielder Katie Miyake found the net in the 25th minute off assists by Megan Plinksi and Amy Orr. Orr increased the Vikings'' lead in the 50th minute when she put a deflected corner kick past Hornet goalkeeper Michelle Balzoumann.

Sacramento State freshman midfielder Hillaree Guay answered back in the 61st minute with her first collegiate goal to put the Hornets on the scoreboard. Bishop then added two goals in the 82nd and 86th minute for the final goals of the afternoon. The assists were credited to Ginney Seibel and Karly Larsen, respectively.

Sophomore Balzoumann recorded six saves as Portland State outshot Sacramento State, 13-6. Senior Lisa Wrightsman led the Hornets with four shots (three on goal).

Sacramento State returns home to face Eastern Washington for their third conference game of the season on Friday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m. at Hornet Soccer Field.
