Sophomore Jaymie Kocer
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Stacy Caro''s penalty-kick goal with less than a minute remaining gave San Francisco a 3-2 double-overtime win over the Sacramento State women''s soccer team, Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Field. The match was the first overtime game for the Hornets (0-2) in the 2002 season.

The Dons (1-0-1) took a 2-0 advantage in the first period after an unassisted goal by Rebecca Shook in the 33rd minute and a goal by Ashley Davies in the 36th minute, off an assist by teammate Katie Gabrielli. The Hornets answered right back when sophomore forward Jaymie Kocer recorded Sacramento State''s first goal of the season with a 10-yard chip shot over the head of Don goalkeeper Stephanie Brall.

In the second period, the Hornets tied the contest in the 78th minute when freshman midfielder Linda Sanchez received a pass from freshman defender Hillaree Guay and weaved her way through the San Francisco defense for the goal. Both teams failed to score again in the game until Caro found the net in the second overtime period.

San Francisco goalkeeper Jennifer Orantes recorded the win for the Dons after Brall left the game in the 66th minute due to a red card infraction. Junior goalkeeper Amy Seely recorded three saves to lead the Hornets.

Sacramento State will next travel to Utah State to face the Aggies on Friday, Sept. 6, at 2 p.m. The Hornets will then travel to Wyoming to face the Cowgirls on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m.
