WOMEN'S SOCCER BATTLES INDIANA STATE TO SCORELESS DRAW
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team battled Indiana State to a scoreless draw in the final game of the UNLV Nike Invitational on Sunday morning at UNLV's Peter Johann Memorial Field.
Victoria Ramirez took a game-high five shots but the neither team could score on Sunday.
The Hornets (1-3-2) recorded their second draw of the season, after playing rival UC Davis to a tie earlier. The Sycamores (3-3-1) snapped a three-game win streak with the draw.
Sacramento State took a season-high 18 shots but Indiana State one-upped them with a whopping 26 shot attempts.
Despite all the chances, both keepers kept a clean sheet. Sacramento State goalie Shelby Tomasello, who also kept UC Davis on the board earlier this year, recorded a career-high 10 saves while Indiana State keeper Erin Mitchell made six stops.
The Hornets, who placed six of their 18 shots on goal, were led by Victoria Ramirez's five shots (two on goal) while Indiana State's Marisa Windisch took a team-high four shots. The Sycamores placed 10 of their 26 shots on frame.
Sacramento State will return home next weekend, with UC Santa Cruz and Penn visiting Hornet Field.
