WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATED AT LONG BEACH STATE

Megan Burg had two shots on goal but the Hornets could not crack the scoreboard at LBSU.
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the game and the Sacramento State women's soccer team lost, 3-0, to the 49ers on Sunday afternoon at George Allen Field.
The Hornets fall to 0-2 on the season while the 49ers improve to 2-0. Long Beach State defeated No. 25 ranked USC, 2-1, on Friday to open the season.
In the fourth minute Jazz Strozier scored the first goal of the game off a cross in from the right side of the box. Shawna Gordon netted her second goal of the season in the eighth minute on another cross from the right side. Long Beach State made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute when Nicole Hubbard scored on a header after a deflection inside the 18-yard box.
Megan Burg put two shots on frame for the Hornets but they could not find the back of the net. Sacramento State totaled six shots and one corner kick while Long Beach State had 10 shots and six corners.
Savannah Abercrombie made three saves for the the Hornets while Kaitlyn Gustaves stopped two shots for the 49ers.
Up next for Sacramento State is a home match against The Master's College at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26 and a road match against rival UC Davis at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28.
