PORTLAND, Ore. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team lost their regular season finale 1-0 on Friday afternoon at Hillsboro Stadium in a Big Sky Conference match-up.

THe Hornets finish the 2010 season at 7-9-1 (4-3-0 Big Sky) while the Vikings wrap up the year with a 9-9-1 (5-2-0) mark.

Portland State locked up the No. 2 seed in the Big Sky tournament with the win while the Hornets secured the No. 3 seed. The teams will meet again next weekend in the first round at Northern Arizona. NAU, the No. 1 seed, knocked off Northern Colorado 1-0 on Friday in another first-round Big Sky Tournament preview. Northern Colorado locked up the No. 4 seed after losing and will meet the Lumberjacks in the first round next weekend.

In the Hornets' 1-0 loss at Portland State, the Vikings' Frankie Ross scored her fifth goal of the season when she connected early, in the fifth minute, of the game when she bolted down the middle of the field on a breakway and scored the eventual game-winner.

Sacramento State had its chances to even it up, especially in the second half when the team took 18 shots compared to just three by Portland State. The Hornets ended the game with a 21-12 edge in shots and 11-4 lead in shots on goal. Head coach Randy Dedini's squad also took eight corner kicks (all in the second half) compared to only three by PSU. Portland State had an 11-3 advantage in saves.

The Hornets finish the season with four conference wins, the most since they took down five Big Sky teams in 2007. The squad won three conference games in 2008 and 2009.
