WOMEN'S SOCCER TOPS NORTHERN COLORADO, 2-0
10/17/2010

Leah Larot scored twice to lead the Hornets to a 2-0 win over Northern Colorado on Sunday.
GREELEY, Colo. - Behind two goals from Leah Larot, the Sacramento State women's soccer team improved to 3-1 in Big Sky Conference play with a 2-0 victory over Northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon at Jackson Stadium. The Hornets improved to 6-7-1 (3-1-0 Big Sky) with the win and handed the Bears their first conference loss as they fell to 9-4-2 (2-1-1) in 2010.
It took until the 88th minute in the game for the scoreless draw to be broken, as Larot took a feed from Erin Tarantino and finished from inside the box to the lower left corner of the net.
Larot was not done though, as she scored unassisted with just 33 seconds left in the game on a breakaway where she beat the goalie with the dribble and tapped in the goal on an empty net.
Larot now has a team-best nine goals on the season with one assist to pace the Hornets with 19 points.
Savannah Abercrombie earned her sixth shutout of the season with the clean sheet victory as the junior tallied nine saves. Abercrombie lowered her goals against average to 1.17 with 46 total saves.
It was an even match offensively, as the Hornets had just one more shot (17-16) and two more corner kicks (5-3).
Head coach Randy Dedini's squad will be back in action next weekend when they play at Idaho State on Oct. 21 and then play host to Weber State on Oct. 24.
