9/5/2010

Savannah Abercrombie had eight saves in a 0-0 draw with Long Beach State.
LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team played to a 0-0 scoreless draw with No. 24 ranked Long Beach State on Sunday afternoon at George Allen Field. Sacramento State's record now stands at 1-3-1 this season while LBSU sits at 4-1-1.
Each side had opportunities to break the tie, as LBSU had 18 shots while Sacramento State had nine attempts. The Beach had 12 corner kicks while the Hornets had three but Sacramento State keeper Savannah Abercrombie was stellar in net, making eight saves to preserve the clean sheet.
The Hornets stymied a previously explosive Long Beach State offense as the Beach were coming off three straight games with two goals, including back-to-back 2-1 wins over then No. 21 Washington State and then No. 16 Virginia Tech.
Four yellow cards were issued in the game, including a pair to Long Beach State's Chantel Hubbard which resulted in her being sent off in the 70th minute.
Sacramento State will be back in action this weekend with a pair of home games. The Hornets will play host to Nevada at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and Menlo College at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
