BAHNO'S OVERTIME GOAL LIFTS WOMEN'S SOCCER TO 2-1 WIN AT SJSU

Laura Bahno scored the game-winning goal in double overtime at San Jose State.
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team earned its first win of the 2010 season in dramatic fashion as Laura Bahno scored a golden goal in the second overtime to give the Hornets a 2-1 victory at San Jose State. Sacramento State improves to 1-2 on the season while the Spartans slide to 0-3.
With less than two minutes remaining in the second overtime period Lauren Bahno lined up for a free kick from 35 yards out. She placed a high shot over the wall of defenders that slipped just under the crossbar but out of reach of San Jose State keeper Meghan Maiwald. Elece McBride started the scoring for the Hornets when she connected on a shot from 11yards out high into the top left corner of the net in the 36th minute.
Sacramento State took 14 shots in the game, including five in the first overtime period. Head coach Randy Dedini's squad kept the pressure on the Spartans as evidenced by a 7-3 edge in corner kicks for the Hornets, with six coming in the first half.
Savannah Abercrombie earned the win in the net for the Hornets, making four saves. She now has a 1.25 goals against average on the young season.
It's a quick turn around for the Hornets as they battle Pacific on the road on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
