WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO EASTERN WASHINGTON, 1-0

 CHENEY, Wash. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team fell to the Eastern Washington Eagles by a score of 1-0 on Sunday, October 18.
With the loss, the Hornets fell to 7-4-4, 2-1-1 in Big Sky Conference play, while the Eagles improved to 6-6-2, 3-0-1 inside of the Big Sky.
Looking to get on the scoreboard first, the Hornets had the best opportunity of the first half, as in the 12th minute senior Katelin Hopping had her shot from 20 yards out go off the cross bar.
At the half, the Hornets and Eagles were tied in shots with seven apiece, with Eastern Washington providing the lone shot on goal.
Eastern Washington got on the scoreboard to open the second half, as in the 51st minute Whitney Brannan dribbled through defenders and scored from 15 yards out to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage.
The Hornets tried to strike a quick counter score in the 52nd minute, but freshman Kelsey O'Donnell had her shot saved by Eagle 'keeper Lisa Dimak.
Sacramento State had other chances to tie the game late, as senior Danielle Holloway had her shot go wide from in front of the goal in the 72nd minute, and in the 90th minute the Hornets had both a corner and a free kick from 25 yards out that did not result in a score.
O'Donnell led the Hornets with five shots, while Hopping and freshman Megan Burg added two apiece. Sophomore Savannah Abercrombie posted three saves in goal.
For the match, Sacramento State outshot the Eagles 14-10.
The Hornets return home to start a three-game season ending homestand on Friday, October 23 as they take on the Weber State Wildcats. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. from Hornet Soccer Field.
