WOMEN'S SOCCER ENDS SEASON WITH 0-0 TIE AT PORTLAND STATE

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team concluded its 2008 season with a 0-0 tie at Portland State on Friday, Oct. 31 at Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation Center.
With the tie, the Hornets finish the season with a 9-8-2 record, including a 3-3-1 mark in Big Sky Conference play. Sacramento State finished the season fifth in the conference standings, as they needed to beat Portland State to make the postseason tournament as the number four seed.
The contest saw the team's combine for 42 shots, including 16 on goal, with neither team able to break into the scoring column during regulation. Sacramento State did provide a shot on goal in the first overtime period, but freshman Paige Tucker had her 96th minute shot saved by Viking 'keeper Cris Lewis.
Redshirt freshman Savannah Abercrombie collected her eighth shutout of the season, which gave her the second most shutouts in a single-season in school history. She collected a career-high nine saves in the 110 minutes of action.
The match served as the final collegiate contest for seniors Tiffany Fraser, Sarah Howard, Jenny Lawrence, Missy Matzen, Rebeccah Phillips, Kayelyn Satkowski and Kara Taylor. Taylor became the first Hornet in school history to start every match the team played during a four-year career, and with Fraser and Howard, became one of three players to play in every match during a four-year career. The trio saw the field 80 times in the Green and Gold, with Taylor making all 80 starts, Howard starting in 77 contests, and Fraser making 48 starts.
