WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS DECISION TO FRESNO STATE

FRESNO, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to the Fresno State Bulldogs on Sunday, Sept. 28 at Bulldog Stadium.
With the loss, the Hornets fall to 4-5-1 on the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 3-7.
Fresno State opened the scoring in the 34th minute as Molly Mizzoli found the back of the net to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage. The mark became 2-0 late in the contest, as in the 87th Nicole Gutierrez scored an insurance goal, giving Fresno State the 2-0 victory.
The Hornets were outshot by the Bulldogs 12-3, with Fresno State putting seven shots on frame to Sacramento State's one. Junior Kim Kemper led the squad with two shots, including one on goal, which came in the 85th minute. Junior Katelin Hopping also posted a shot for the Hornets, while redshirt freshman 'keeper Savannah Abercrombie collected five saves in goal.
Fresno State was led by Mizzoli, who took three shots on the afternoon, while Kaitlyn Revel posted a clean sheet in goal, posting one save. With the win, Fresno State was able to avenge a 5-1 loss to the Hornets in Sacramento last season, as well as end the team's three match winning streak.
Sacramento State returns to the home pitch on Thursday, Oct. 2 as they host the Nevada Wolf Pack. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Hornet Soccer Field.
