POCATELLO, Idaho - Idaho State''s Chantal Kim halted Sacramento State''s two-game winning streak, knocking in a golden goal and leading the Bengals to a 1-0 victory over the Hornets on Saturday afternoon at Davis Field.
Kim ended the scoreless tie in the 95th minute, connecting with Jennifer Loo on a free kick in front of the Hornets'' goal. It was Sacramento State''s fourth overtime match in the team''s last five games.
The Hornets drop to 7-6-1 on the year and 1-1-0 in the Big Sky, while the Bengals improve to 5-7-0 and 1-1-0 in league.
For Kim, it was her third goal of the season, while Loo added her fifth assist.
Idaho State outshot Sacramento State 17-13 during the match, putting five of those shots on frame, compared to Sacramento State''s four.
The Bengals entered the match after suffering a 1-0 overtime loss on Thursday to Portland State, while the Hornets opened conference play with a 1-0 victory at Weber State on Thursday.
The Hornets return home for a three-match conference homestand spanning two weeks. On Friday, Oct. 13, Sacramento State hosts Montana at 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 15, the Hornets will then play Eastern Washington with a 2:30 p.m. start. Both matches will feature doubleheaders with the men''s team.
