WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS 3-1 TO PACIFIC IN EXHIBITION GAME

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – University of the Pacific defeated Sacramento State, 3-1, after scoring three goals in the first half of an exhibition game on Saturday afternoon.

Forward Regina McGee, who scored a game-high two goals, led the Tigers.

The Tigers started the scoring in the 22nd minute on a strike from Bunny Dickson, who curled a shot into the upper left corner.

McGee first scored in the 28th minute and was assisted by Carmen Padilla. Eleven minutes later, Maggie Barsotti found McGee six yards out from goal as McGee was able to slot the ball into the lower left far post past Hornet goalkeeper Michelle Balzouman.

Sacramento State countered in the second half after forward Jennifer Iha was dragged down in the box. Midfielder Jenae Kee then scored the Hornets only goal on a penalty kick, putting the ball past Tiger goalkeeper Jaime Souza.

Balzouman tallied a game-high six saves and Tiger goalkeeper Jaime Souza finished with two. Freshman goalkeeper Brittany Auernig came in for Balzouman with 22 minutes left in the game and picked up two saves.

Iha and midfielder Linda Sanchez led the Hornets with two shots each and defender Katie Burton also cleared a shot off the goal line in the final minutes of the game.

Sacramento State will open up its regular season at Long Beach on Friday at 5 p.m. The Hornets next home game is at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept., 10 against Nevada.
