WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO EASTERN WASHINGTON, 2-1

Eastern Washington''s Jennie Summers scored a game-high two goals to lead the Eagles to a 2-1 Big Sky Conference win over the Sacramento State women''s soccer team, Friday afternoon at the EWU Rec Center.

Sacramento State dropped to 6-8-3 overall and 0-3-2 in the Big Sky while the Eagles improved to 2-12-2, 1-4.

Eastern Washington took an early lead in the 10th minute when Jennie Summers found the back of the net off an assist by Sarah Windham.

The Hornets evened the score less than a minute later when junior midifielder Jenae Kee headed a ball into the goal off an assist by freshman Maggie Murphey. With the goal, Kee tied freshman forward Lisamarie La Vallee with twelve total points on the season. Murphy, a native of Walnut Creek, Calif., now leads the squad with five assists.

The Eagles took the lead for good in the 79th minute when Summers sconnected on her second goal of the contest off an assist by Beth Russell.

Junior transfer Elizabeth Kirkland received her first start between the posts for the Hornets and recorded two saves.

Sacramento State, who was officially eliminated from the Big Sky Tournament with the loss, concludes the 2003 regular season at Montana on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. PST.
