9/28/2003

Freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Shaw held Cal State Northridge to one goal during 110 minutes of play as the Sacramento State women’s soccer team played to a tie against the Matadors, Sunday afternoon at Hornet Soccer Field

The Hornets’ record is now 2-4-1 on the year, while the matadors went to 2-4-3.

Sacramento State scored the first goal of the match when junior Sela Suarez passed a high ball deep into Matador territory. Mandi Siller controlled the ball and passed it to junior Janae Kee, who placed the ball into the bottom left of the goal.

CSN tied the game in the 69th minute, when Leila Pate dribbled from the right sideline to create a clear shot at the goal and placed the ball into the left side of the net.

The game remained scoreless for the rest of the contest despite several attempts by both squads.

For Kee, a native of Roseville, the goal was her second straight game in which she has scored. Kee scored a career high two goals at Nevada on, Sept. 28

Freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Shaw led all goalkeepers with a game high 10 saves.

Sacramento State will next host San Francisco on Friday, Oct. 3, at noon.
