WOMEN'S SOCCER STUNNED IN 3-2 LOSS TO ISU

Caitlin Pulver scored her fifth goal of the season but the Hornets lost, 3-2, on Thursday.
Sacramento State (6-8-2, 2-2-2 Big Sky) stumbled to fourth in the conference standings while Idaho State (5-10-1, 2-4-0) earned its second win in league play and moved to sixth in the standings. The Big Sky Conference tournament is hosted by the No. 1 seed and features the top four teams in the league.
Portland State, which entered Thursday tied with the Hornets for third, moved to first (11 points) with a win over Weber State. The Wildcats fell into a tie with Northern Colorado as each team has three wins and one tie in league play for 10 points. UNC has played one less game in conference, however, and the Bears visit Eastern Washington tomorrow and host Montana on Sunday.
The Hornets are fourth with eight points but Montana (seven points), Idaho State (six points) and Northern Arizona (six points) are within striking distance. NAU plays at Montana tomorrow before hosting Eastern Washington on Sunday. Idaho State's final game of the year is at home on Sunday against Portland State.
In the Hornets' loss on Thursday, Jordan Carlberg and Caitlin Pulver scored for Sacramento State while Kiley Godfrey, Allyssa Kenney and Amanda Ellsworth had goals for Idaho State.
None of those scores was bigger than Kenney's. Despite being shorthanded after a red card, Caitlin Pulver put the Hornets up 2-1 with just over 10 minutes to play in the game. That was enough time for Kenney and the Bengals, but just barely.
Kenney blasted a shot from 30 yards out that skipped off a defender on the way up and the soaring ball sailed over the outstretched hands of Savannah Abercrombie for the game-tying goal with just nine seconds left in regulation.
In overtime, Sacramento State controlled possession early but Idaho State was able to get Taylor Powell the ball on a break down the right side. Powell dribbled to the edge of the 18-yard box and slotted a crossing pass just in front of the keeper where a sprinting Ellsworth was able to slide and redirect the ball into the back of the net.
Idaho State had a 20-16 edge in shots in the game - the first time the Hornets have been outshot in a league game this season. Sacramento State took three corners to two by Idaho State but the Bengals were whistled for more fouls (15-10). Idaho State and Sacramento State each drew two yellow cards while Victoria Ramirez earned the red card in the 72nd minute.
