WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATED, 2-0, AT FRESNO STATE

Savannah Abercrombie made six saves but the Hornets lost, 2-0, at Fresno State on Sunday.

FRESNO, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Fresno State on Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium. It was the Bulldogs' fourth shutout of the season and eighth straight win over the Hornets on their home field. Sacramento State falls to 1-5-0 on the season while Fresno State improves to 3-2-1.

Fresno State's Callie Hancock and Morgan Castain each scored in the first half. Castian took a pass from Tara Boyton in the 16th minute and finished with a shot low to the far post.

In the 26th minute, Hancock dribbled past a defender after taking a long pass from Lauren Lindstrom and finished with a chip over Sacramento State keeper Savannah Abercrombie.

Fresno State had a 16-12 edge in shots and a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks. Abercrombie made six saves and now has 20 saves on the young season.

Sacramento State has lost three straight games since defeating The Master's College, 3-0, behind Victoria Ramirez's two goals.

The Hornets open San Francisco and Creighton next weekend at Hornet Field.
