SACRAMENTO, Calif. -
Sacramento State women's soccer midfielder Jordan Carlberg has earned Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. The sophomore from Turlock, Calif. had one goal and a pair of assists in wins against Montana and Eastern Washington over the weekend.

Carlberg tallied four points and five shots on the weekend in a pair of conference victories to give the Hornets' their first 2-0 start in Big Sky play since 2001.

She netted one goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Montana on Friday and then assisted on the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Eastern Washington. Carlberg took over the team lead in assists with four this season. She is second on the squad with 10 points on the year.

This is the second conference award for the Hornets this season. Goalkeeper Savannah Abercrombie took home defensive player of the week honors following a shutout performance at Long Beach State on Sept. 5.

The Sacramento State women's soccer team will be on the road for the next three games before hosting their final home game of 2010 against Weber State at 1 p.m. on Oct. 24. It will also be senior day as the Hornets' graduating players will be honored before the game.
