WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS FRESNO STATE, 2-0

Goalie Savannah Abercrombie recorded her third shutout of the season versus Fresno State.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's soccer team used two second half goals to defeat Fresno State, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Hornet Soccer Field. The Hornets improve to 3-4-1 on the year while Fresno State falls to 4-4-0.

Leah Larot got the ball rolling with a breakaway goal in the 63rd minute when she touched the ball around the advancing Fresno State keeper and finished on an open net. It was Larot's sixth goal this season and 13th of her career.

Jordan Carlberg added her second goal of the year in the 74th minute. After Shea Roberts sent the ball soaring over the Fresno State defense, Carlberg one-touched a shot to the far post.

Sacramento State keeper Savannah Abercrombie earned the clean sheet win, her third this season and school-record 19th of her career. The junior from El Camino High School now has a 1.07 goals against average and 25 saves after collecting two saves against Fresno State.

The Hornets had the edge in shots (10-5) and shots on goal (5-2) but it was even in corner kicks (3-3) and fouls (8-8).

Sacramento State will hit the road for its next two games. The Hornets will play Cal State Bakersfield and Seattle at the Seattle University Tournament.
