KARA TAYLOR NAMED BIG SKY CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

9/22/2008

OGDEN, Utah - Senior defender Kara Taylor was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 15-21, as announced by the conference today.

Taylor scored the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute of the Hornets 1-0 victory over Iona College on Sunday afternoon. The goal was the first in the career of Taylor, who is a three-time all-Big Sky Conference defender, who was named the conference's co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2005.

The Hornet defense, led by Taylor, allowed just one goal and eight shots on goal during a weekend that saw the Hornets improve to 3-4-1 with victories over Iona and Miami University.

For Taylor, the award was her second career weekly honor and the first for any Hornet this season.

Sacramento State returns to action as they travel to Cal State Bakersfield on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
