MISSOULA, Mont.— Women’s soccer team ended its season with a loss to
defending conference champion Montana, 5-0, Thursday afternoon in the
first round of the Big Sky Conference Championships at South Campus
Field.
The Grizzlies jumped out to a 2-0 halftime advantage after goals by
defender Kerri Houck in the 20th minute and forward Heather Olson in the
34th minute. Montana then added three more goals in the second period
from forward Amy Wronski and two from forward Amy Schlatter.
The Hornets finish the 2000 campaign with a 9-6-2 overall record and a
4-3 mark in the Big Sky. The team’s overall finish and 34 goals scored
are new program records, previously set in 1994. Sacramento State’s
playoff berth was its first since the 1997 season.
Sophomore forward Lisa Wrightsman finished the regular season tied for
first in the Big Sky with a career-high 12 goals. She also led the
Hornets with 25 points this season. Junior midfielder Desirae Feria led
the team with six assists.
Freshman goalkeeper Amy Seely finished the season fourth overall in
school history with 4.5 and led the team with 73 saves.
