McCOY NAMED BIG SKY OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

10/22/2007

OGDEN, Utah - Sacramento State senior Katie McCoy was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 15-21, as announced by the conference office today.

McCoy scored the first two goals in the Hornets 4-0 road triumph over Eastern Washington on Sunday, which was their first victory of the season away from Hornet Soccer Field.

The La Mesa, Calif. native now has 22 career goals, passing Jessica Mackiewicz (1998-99) for sole possession of third place all-time in Hornet history this weekend. Her nine goals on the season put her into a three-way tie for the fifth best single season output in program history, and her 25 points on the season ties Lisa Wrightsman for the fourth best season all-time.

McCoy is already the programs all-time leader in assists with 22, and she ranks second in program history in points with 66 in her career. The occasion marks the fourth time she has been named Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week during her career, and the second time she has earned the honor this season.

The Hornets play a pivotal pair of Big Sky games this week, traveling to Northern Colorado on Friday, Oct. 26, before hosting Portland State on Sunday, Oct. 28. The two teams trail the first place Hornets by one point in the race to host the Big Sky Conference Tournament.
