WOMEN’S SOCCER SWEEPS THROUGH THE STATE OF NEW YORK

Stony Brook, N.Y.— Midfielders Krissy Collyer, Naomi Ennis and forward

Lisa Wrightsman each scored a goal as the Hornets defeated Stony Brook,

3-0, on Sunday afternoon at University Field.

Collyer scored the first goal of the game in the 32nd minute off an

assist by midfielder Lori Kerswell. Ennis, a native of Conewango, N.Y.,

scored her first goal of the season in the 38th minute after being

assisted by midfielder Summer Douglas and Kerswell. Wrightsman then

added a goal in the 76th minute, her seventh on the year.

Freshman goalkeepers Amy Seely and Tiffany Genovese combined on the

shutout as each played one period in the game for the Hornets. Seely

finished with five saves and Genovese recorded one.

The win gives the Hornets a two-game road sweep through New York after

getting its first win, 1-0, in the Bronx on Friday against Fordham.

Women's soccer is now 6-2-2 on the year and back on school-record pace

after ten games. The team’s previous best being a 6-4 record in 1998

when the Hornets finished 9-9-0.

The team will look to continue its undefeated record at Hornet Field

(4-0-2) when the Hornets host UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2

p.m.
