WOMEN’S SOCCER ENDS SKID ON ROAD, 1-0, AT FORDHAM

9/22/2000

Bronx, N.Y.— Freshman forward Jennifer Spudic’s goal in the 68th minute ended a scoreless tie as women's soccer got its second road win of the season by defeating Fordham University, 1-0, on Friday afternoon.

The win gives the Hornets a 5-2-2 overall record and ends a two-game losing streak following consecutive losses at Northern Arizona and Arizona State last week.

Spudic, a Gallup, N.M native, recorded the first goal of her collegiate career after striking a ball through the bottom right corner past goalkeeper Shannon Misiaszek. Forward Lisa Wrightsman recorded the assist on the play.

Hornet goalkeeper Amy Seely recorded the shutout with five saves. Seely, a freshman from West Linn, Ore., now has three shutouts on the season.

The team will next travel to Stony Brook to take on the Seawolves on Sunday, Sept. 24, at noon.
