SACRAMENTO, Calif.— Forwards Lori Kerswell and Lisa Wrightsman each
scored two goals to give women's soccer a 4-3 win over Eastern
Washington in Big Sky Conference action, at Hornet Field Wednesday
afternoon.
Trailing the Eagles 2-1 after one period, the Hornets buckled down and
scored three unanswered goals to keep the team undefeated at 4-0-1.
Kerswell scored both of her goals in the second period during the 48th
and 56th minute. Wrightsman, who made the first goal of the game in the
19th minute on an assist by Kerswell, made the unassisted game winner in
the 67th minute on a rebound deflection.
Kyla Hamilton of Eastern Washington scored the first of her two goals in
the 22nd minute to tie the game and then Keri Nichols scored two minutes
later to give the Eagles, their only advantage of the game.
Midfielder Desirae Feria added one assist in the game.
The previous best start by a Hornet team since joining the Div. I ranks
in 1994 was a 2-3 record in 1994, 1998 and 1999.
The team will look to continue its record pace at home on Friday, Sept.
8, at 4 p.m. against Pacific.
