WOMEN’S SOCCER ADDS TARANTINO TO 2006 SIGNING CLASS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State women''s soccer program announced the signing of Erin Tarantino to a National Letter of Intent, it was announced today. The Hornets have now signed a total of six players to the 2006 class, the second for head coach Katie Poynter, who in 2005, led the Hornets to an 8-8-3 record and the team’s best finish since 2000.

Tarantino is a current senior at Casa Grande High School in Petaluma, Calif. With the ability to play in the forward line and in the midfield, she has been a consistent varsity starter since her freshman season, while helping the Gauchos to the 2002 Sonoma County League championship.

Tarantino has played the last three seasons for the Santa Rosa United Storm. Under head coach Paul Dixon, she helped lead the Storm to the Nor Cal state semifinals in 2005, while in 2004 capturing the NorCal State championship and advancing to the Western Regional IV quarterfinals.

In 2003, Tarantino was in the training pool for the Region IV championships and was also a member of the Cal State North team.
