WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS 1-0 ON THE ROAD TO IDAHO STATE

10/21/2004

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A goal in the seventh minute was all it took for Idaho State (6-5-3, 1-2-1) to get its first Big Sky win of the season. It was the seventh game this season where Sacramento State gave up a goal in the first 10 minutes of the match.

Jessie Bobert put the Bengals up 1-0 early in the first half for her second goal of the season with Jennifer Loo on the assist. Bobert was able to put the ball in the back of the net, past Hornet goalkeeper Brittany Auernig, who had three saves during the first half.

Senior goalkeeper Michelle Balzouman came on for Auernig at the start of the second half, but registered zero saves as the Sacramento State defense of Amber Dragomir, Natalia Romo, Mandi Siller and Tiffany Fraser denied the Bengals any shots on goal.

Idaho State out shot the Hornets 15-7, but only four of the Bengals’ shots fell on frame - all in the first half. Senior forward Jenae Kee and junior midfielder Linda Sanchez led Sacramento State with one shot on goal apiece.

Idaho State goalkeeper Shannon Boyle finished the match with two saves.

The Hornets are now 2-13-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the Big Sky.

Sacramento State has lost 10 consecutive matches on the season and has lost 11-straight matches away from home dating back to last season.

Sacramento State will end its final roadtrip of the season on Saturday for a 10:30 a.m. match at Weber State. The Hornets will then return home for their final two matches of the season on Friday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. against Montana and Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. against Eastern Washington.
