NOTES
Sacramento State travels to Idaho State and Weber State in search of its first Big Sky victories. The defense has been led by junior Mandi Siller, sophomores Amber Dragomir and Natalia Romo, and freshman Tiffany Fraser, who has been playing mostly at the leftback after starting the season in the forward line. Freshman goalkeeper Brittany Auernig has also seen a lot of playing time in between the posts this season, playing the full 90 minutes in Sacramento State’s last two matches. Auernig has also played the full time in both of the Hornets’ Big Sky matches. Junior Linda Sanchez and sophomore Maggie Murphy have been controlling the central midfield for Sacramento State, while freshmen Katie McCoy and Rebeccah Phillips continue to improve and force scoring situations on the left and right sides of the midfield, respectively. The forward line has consisted of seniors Jennifer Iha and Jenae Kee, sophomore Kelly Novak and freshmen Kayelyn Satkowski and Amanda Gray.
STAT LEADERS
The Hornets are averaging 9.5 shots per game and are led by Sanchez, who has blasted 27 shots in 2004, scoring two goals... she is also sixth in the Big Sky, averaging 2.21 shots per game...Auernig is fifth in the Big Sky, averaging 4.60 saves per game...she has a total 46 saves on the season...senior goalkeeper Michelle Balzouman has 40 saves and the two goalkeepers’ combination of 90 saves (four team saves) leads the Big Sky.
UPCOMING MATCHES
Sacramento State has only four matches left on the year and will travel on its last road trip of the season this weekend for matches at Idaho State on Thursday and Weber State on Saturday. The Bengals (0-2-1) are yet to win a match in the Big Sky and are coming off a 1-0 loss to Eastern Washington and a 2-0 loss to Montana. Idaho State is led by Natalie Graham, who has recorded three goals and two assists. The Wildcats (0-2-1) are also winless in the Big Sky, leaving room for the Hornets to take advantage this weekend. Weber State is coming off a 2-1 loss to Montana and a 2-1 loss to Eastern Washington. The Wildcats are led by Namoi Felix’s four goals.
