SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento State women’s soccer team signed defender Alecia Homer to a National Letter of Intent, it was announced today. Homer joins incoming freshmen Brittany Auernig, Megan DeGuerre, Amanda Gray, Katie McCoy, Rebeccah Phillips and Katelyn Satkowski and junior college transfer Amber Gwinn, as part of the 2004 recruiting class. Each signee will enroll at Sacramento State in the fall of 2004.
Homer, a defender from Rio Americano High School in Carmichael, Calif., was a four-year member of the varsity squad under head coach Danny Cruz. She earned first team all-Capital Athletic League honors and was named team Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and senior. Homer also garnered second team all-CAL accolades as a freshman and sophomore. The Gold River, Calif., native also received the Student-Athlete Award as a senior after recording a gpa above 3.3.
A member of the Elk Grove U-19 girls club team in the Premier League, Homer helped the squad to a Far West Regional title, a Nor-Cal State Cup Championship and a spot in the national finals in 2003.
