Freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Shaw and Portland State goalkeeper Joell Giger held their opponents scoreless for 110 minutes of play as the Sacramento Sate women''s soccer team tied Portland State, 0-0, Sunday afternoon at PGE Park. The match marked the first Big Sky Conference game for each school.The Hornets'' are now 4-5-2 overall and 0-0-1 in the Big Sky while Portland State went to 5-7-1, 0-0-1.
Shaw tallied a game-high five saves and earned her second shut for the season. Her first coming in a 1-0 defeat of Idaho State on Oct 5.
The Hornets took 14 shots against the Vikings, after only managing three shots in a 2-0 loss to Saint Mary''s on Oct 10. Hornet freshman Kelly Novak led the Hornets with five shots.
Sacramento State returns home to Hornet Soccer Field for a non-conference game against San Jose State on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m.
