The Sacramento State women’s soccer team announced the signing of Katie Burton, Christina Gundrem and Jenae Kee to National Letters of Intent, it was announced today. The trio will join Sarah Moses, Kelly Novak, Maggie Murphy, Lisa La Vallee, Stephanie Shaw, Elizabeth Kirkland and Catherine Sherwin as the program’s first recruiting class under head coach Karen Hanks. Each signee will enroll at Sacramento State in the fall of 2003.Burton is a 2003 graduate of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. The defender was named the Gaels’ team MVP and most improved player as a senior while also being named all-state, all-division and all-Sunset Region. As a junior, Burton earned all-SR and all-division honors. She also led the Gaels to a state championship in 2001 and three-consecutive division titles from 2000-03. Burton also competed for the Las Vegas Premier ‘85 club team and led the squad to a state championship in 2002.
Gundrem is a junior college transfer from Yuba College in Marysville, Calif. The defender earned all-Western Region and first team all-Bay Valley Conference honors as a sophomore for the 49ers. Gundrem spent her freshman season at Warner Southern College in Lake Wales, Fla. In her lone season with the Royals, she was named team MVP and also earned first team all-Florida Sun Conference honors. Gundrem was a 2000 graduate of Yuba City High School in Yuba City, Calif.
Kee, a native of Roseville, Calif., is a junior transfer from San Francisco State. The central midfielder was the Gators’ team captain in 2002 and also earned West Coast Classic All-Tourney, first team all-California Collegiate Athletic Association and first team all-West Region honors during the year. A 2001 graduate of Woodcreek High School, Kee was a first team all-Sierra Foothill League selection as a sophomore and senior. Kee also earned all-SFL honorable mention honors as a freshman and junior. She also was named defensive MVP (1998) and offensive MVP (2000) by the Timberwolves. Kee also competed for the Sacramento United Magic Premier and Placer United Piranhas Premier club teams and was a member of Olympic Development Programs from 1997-99.
