OGDEN, Utah -- Junior defender Stacey Rowell and sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Balzouman earned all-Big Sky Conference honorable mention honors, it was announced today. Rowell earned honorable mention honors for the third-consecutive season after finishing as one of the top defenders in the conference. The Dove Canyon, Calif., native started 16 of 17 contests and recorded seven shots (four on goal) to earn a .571 percentage. One of three team captains, has been a model of consistency for the Hornet program by appearing in every contest in her career (51).
Balzouman earned all-conference honors after transferring from Cal State Stanislaus. The Tracy, Calif., native finished with 42 saves, and a goals-against-average of 2.23. Balzouman appeared in eight contests (seven starts) and tallied a season-high seven saves against Eastern Washington on Oct. 18.
Sacramento State finished the 2002 season with an overall record of 3-13-1 (1-5 Big Sky). The Hornets ended the season with consecutive shutouts over Weber State and San Jose State. The squad combined to outscore their opponents 5-0 during that span.
