SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Senior forward Lisa Wrightsman was named Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording a season-high two goals to lead the Hornet women''s soccer team to its first conference victory of the 2002 season, it was announced today. The match also marked the first conference win for head coach Karen Hanks at the Div. I level.Wrightsman, a native of Elk Grove, Calif., recorded two goals, including the game-winner, to lead the Hornets to a 2-0 shutout over Weber State on Oct. 27, at Hornet Soccer Field. The match also marked the final home game for Wrightsman''s career at Sacramento State.
Wrightsman leads the team with five goals and 11 points while also ranking in the top ten in five offensive categories in the Big Sky. She currently ranks third in shots (48), fourth in shots per game (3.00), sixth in goals (5), ninth in points (11) and tenth in goals per game (0.31).
During her four years with the Hornets, Wrightsman has competed in 68 contests including 59 starts and has tallied 30 goals, six assists and 66 points. Her career marks place her second in goals and points, third in games played, and fourth in games started in the program record book. The Elk Grove, Calif., native also places second in the season record book with 12 goals in 2000.
Wrightsman became the first Hornet in program history to earn unanimous first team all-Big Sky honors in consecutive seasons and was only the second player to earn first team honors in consecutive seasons. Wrightsman was also voted Team Offensive Player of the Year for the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
Sacramento State will complete the 2002 season at San Jose State on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2:30 p.m.
